Greeting from mandala
CEO’s welcome note
Dear Readers, I am delighted to welcome you to the first edition of Mandala, our revitalized in-flight magazine.
This issue celebrates many aspects of Indonesia, including colorful nightlife in Jakarta, secluded villages in Bali, and natural wonders in Medan. It’s a mixture that I’m sure will appeal.
This issue also celebrates the successful transformation of Mandala Airlines from a traditional domestic operator to the ‘New Mandala’, an Indonesian airline providing international standards of safe and reliable travel, on a modern well-maintained fleet, at affordable prices.
Mandala Airlines has been one of the principal airlines in Indonesia over 39 years. In 2006, Mandala was sold by Kostrad to Indonesia’s Cardig International and US investor Indigo Partners. Each have the primary aim of growing Mandala into Indonesia’s number one airline.
An integral part of the investment strategy is the mandate given to management to ensure that the ‘New Mandala’ will comply with the highest international standards of airline Safety and Quality. As part of the change process we have modernized our fleet by accelerating the retirement of the old B737-200s. In the last four months of 2007 we took delivery of four new Airbuses and, in June 2007, ordered an additional 30 Airbus aircraft.
We introduced a new Safety Management System to embrace safety across all facets of our airline operations. This includes a rigorous audit program based on IATA and IOSA standards. We have also outsourced the maintenance of our Airbus fleet to Singapore Airlines Engineering.
I would be happy to receive feedback about our services and this new in-flight magazine. Feel free to email me at ceo@mandalaair.com.
Thank you for choosing to fly with us.
