A young woman and man form part of Ubud’s royal cremation ceremony procession on 15 July, 2008. The pelebon ceremony – marking the cremation of three members of Ubud’s royal family – was the town’s largest in three decades. The Balinese believe a cremation symbolizes the cleansing of the soul, allowing the deceased to enter heaven.
