JOHNNY SWANDI SJAM IS THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF INDONESIAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY, INDOSAT

What do you think about the New Mandala?

The new and modern Mandala aircraft have made the experience of flying an exciting one. Mandala has been transformed fundamentally in terms of operations – in order to conform to international standards.

How can Mandala benefit corporations during the current global downturn?

Forging win-win partnerships and providing positive synergies for both parties have always been priorities for Indosat. A partnership with a domestic airline has a strategic value for Indosat, considering our operations and services, which span across the whole country. High air travel safety standards, flexibility and competitive prices are key factors for consideration before entering into a partnership with an airline. Mandala’s vast routes, some of which are inaccessible via other airlines, will enhance values in supporting Indosat’s operational activities. In addition, Mandala’s aircraft maintenance is handled by SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) and supported by international management.

How can Indosat partner Mandala?

Indosat and Mandala have common principles in providing services to their customers – namely, a commitment to giving high quality services with competitive prices, along with the desire to keep in touch with and adopt the latest technologies to support operational activities.

Mandala is an airline with a good reputation, is rapidly growing and has vast routes. Likewise, Indosat is the only domestic and international telecommunication service provider with such widely available services, ranging from cellular services (Matrix, IM3 and Mentari) to fixed lines (SLI, StarOne, Indosat Phone and FlatCall 01016), data communication, as well as Internet access. The cooperation between the two companies will enable the emergence of new solutions for communication and transportation focused on society. This is already a reality with, for instance, our ticket payments service, through an “e-wallet”.

FEEDBACK TANGGAPAN

Chris Wren, executive director of the British Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (BritCham), recently flew with Mandala

Any frequent traveler would probably agree that the precurser to any pleasant flying experience is being ‘on time’, So, we got off to an excellent start. Likewise with the late-evening return. We found the ground staff pleasant and interested in assisting us. The Mandala plane was new and the seats were extremely comfortable.

For me, the female staff looked fresh, attractive and were very service-oriented, even with a rare, responsive sense of humor. Perhaps most important of all, their confidence gave a certain assurance of safety. I had heard that Mandala had ‘upped the ante’ on their domestic competitors and my overall impression is that they have succeeded. It is a high standard to follow and I hope Mandala’s goal will be to stay fresh, innovative, safe and remain in the number one spot. I highly recommend the experience.
