AIRLINE IS FIRST INDONESIAN CARRIER TO RATIFY 10 PRINCIPLES

Mandala Airlines has signed onto the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), becoming the first Indonesian carrier to make this commitment.
The President Director of Mandala Airlines Diono Nurjadin said that the strategic step had been taken to declare Mandala’s commitment to the ten principles of UNGC, which include good corporate governance, eco-awareness, development of human resources and the reinforcement of human rights.
Initiated by the Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN), the ‘pledge of Global Compact’ signatory ceremony in October 2009 was officiated by the Chief Financial Officer of Mandala, Michael Hamelink, together with the president of IGCN, YW Junardy.
“This signing aims to firm Mandala’s commitment to be a good corporate citizen by actively carrying out the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact as part of our corporate strategy, culture and day-to-day operations,” said Diono. Mandala would also campaign for commitment to the Global Compact with employees, he added.
President of IGCN, YW Junardy, said Mandala’s move would have local and international benefits for the carrier. “The involvement of Mandala will bring better achievements in the field of human rights protection, competitive human resource development, environment conservation and corruption eradication,” he said.
